Challenge of the Super Friends is een Amerikaanse animatieserie over een team superhelden die van 9 september 1978 tot 23 december 1978 op ABC liep. De complete serie is geproduceerd door Hanna-Barbera Productions voor Warner Bros. Television en is gebaseerd op de Justice League en bijbehorende stripfiguren, uitgegeven door DC Comics en gemaakt door Julius Schwartz, Gardner Fox en Mike Sekowsky. Het was de derde serie Super Friends-tekenfilms, na de originele Super Friends in 1973 en The All-New Super Friends Hour in 1977. Het wordt nog steeds uitgezonden op Boomerang in de Verenigde Staten.

Three aliens come to a ruined Earth. Travelling to the Great Hall of Justice, they find a series of memory tapes chronicling the Superfriends and the Legion of Doom. Although they find some origin tapes, they find nothing on the calamity that destroyed the Earth. They find the Legion of Doom HQ and discover that Luthor unleashed a solar flare that interacted with the Superfriends' planet-protecting shield, devastating all life on Earth. The aliens go back in time and alter the timeline with an eclipse so that the flare never makes it to Earth.
